Belize Vacation Ideas
The Lodge at Chaa Creek has always been a family affair – our own children grew up here as our small family farm evolved into a 365 acre private nature reserve, and along the way we’ve had the pleasure of hosting families from all over the world.
In fact, it was our own and other children who inspired many of our most popular features and activities.
We know the joys that come with a family canoe trip down the beautiful Macal River, or an afternoon horseback ride through shady forest trails with the sounds of tropical birds filling the forest. There is nothing like sharing a Belize adventure to really bring families closer and create memories that last forever.
Within Chaa Creek itself there are many family friendly activities such as our Butterfly Farm & Natural History Centre, where visitors of all ages are enthralled to watch Belize’s stunning Blue Morpho butterflies emerge from their cocoons and take flight.
Close by, the Natural History Centre is the perfect place to learn about Belize’s amazing, diverse nature, ecology, animals and rich Maya culture.
The popular Creatures of the Night walk provides a fascinating glimpse into the vibrant nocturnal jungle world, and the Nature Quest Treasure Hunt is a fun way to become familiar with the many wonders of the Belizean rainforest and its exotic inhabitants.
Add to this our kids-friendly swimming pool, volleyball courts, and guided or self-guided tours to nearby Maya temples and archaeological sites, local villages and our traditional organic Maya farm (where junior farmers can help with the planting or savour fresh fruits and vegetables) and the chances of boredom are virtually nil.
Rainy days? No problem. We have a wide assortment of board games and art supplies, and you can watch ours or your own DVDs in the relaxing Guest Lounge.
Even the large airy jungle bar is kids friendly and offers a range of healthy fruit drinks, snacks and good company.
And with our warm and friendly babysitting service, parents can enjoy special quality time and perhaps fit in a relaxing visit to our hilltop spa.
At Chaa Creek we also promote interactive, responsible tourism, and many families enjoy visits to our local villages as well as making small donations of school supplies & hand-me-down clothing and toys to the Cristo Rey Village preschool and local charitable organisations.
What better way for kids to get to know children of another culture and discover that we are all quite similar after all.
So don’t think that a Belizean adventure holiday is for adults only – we’ve seen families from the world over grow and bond together as they discover the many things that make Belize – and Chaa Creek – so special.
